Today’s Scripture Reading

Isaiah 17 – An oracle concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer are deserted; they will be for flocks, which will lie down, and none will make them afraid.

Scripture of the Week

Build a strong foundation for how a follower of Christ should think and respond based on the Word of God. Read over the following verse at least once a day for the next week:

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Sermon Text

The Way We Talk

Colossians 4:17-18 – And say to Archippus, “See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.” I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.

Questions: Who was Archippus? What does the passage teach us about Paul? What does this passage teach us about our ministry?

Prayer Focus

“It is God’s will, through his wonderful grace, that the prayers of his saints should be one great and principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ’s kingdom in the world. When God has something very great to accomplish for his church, ‘tis his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of his people.”

Jonathan Edwards

Pray for healing and restoration of those ill and going through medical procedures.
Pray for the servicemen and families affected by the wars.
Pray for the repentance of our nation and for Holy Spirit to draw all our people to Christ Jesus.
Pray for the submission to God of our elected and appointed public servants.
Pray for fellow believers around the world.
Pray for nations at war.

Operation Christmas Child

Samaritan’s Purse encourages OCC shoebox donors to include a personal note in each shoebox gift to encourage the recipient child in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is an all-church project – even if you’re unable to help pack the boxes, we welcome all notes – we need over 200.

You may enclose a thoughtful note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back. You may use your name, c/o the church address if you would like.

Blank cards are available in the foyer – if you use an envelope, please do not seal it, as everything must be checked at the processing center. Thank you!
