Today’s Scripture Reading

Isaiah 14 – For the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel, and will set them in their own land, and sojourners will join them and will attach themselves to the house of Jacob. And the peoples will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them in the Lord’s land as male and female slaves. They will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them.

Scripture of the Week

Build a strong foundation for how a follower of Christ should think and respond based on the Word of God. Read over the following verse at least once a day for the next week:

John 13:34-35 – A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Sermon Text

Colossians 4:5-6 – Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Key Point: Walk Wisely- Proverbs 9:10, James 1:5, Psalm 119:105, Colossians 3:16, Proverbs 2:1-5, 2 Timothy 2:15, Colossians 1:28. What does it mean to walk foolishly- 1 Timothy 6:9, Galatians 3:1,3, James 3:16. Make the most of opportunities- Psalm 90:12, John 9:4, Romans 13:11-14.

Prayer Focus

“It is God’s will, through his wonderful grace, that the prayers of his saints should be one great and principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ’s kingdom in the world. When God has something very great to accomplish for his church, ‘tis his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of his people.”

Operation Christmas Child

Samaritan’s Purse encourages OCC shoebox donors to include a personal note in each shoebox gift to encourage the recipient child in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is an all-church project – even if you’re unable to help pack the boxes, we welcome all notes – we need over 200.

You may enclose a thoughtful note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back. You may use your name, c/o the church address if you would like.

Blank cards are available in the foyer – if you use an envelope, please do not seal it, as everything must be checked at the processing center. Thank you!
