Today’s Scripture Reading
Isaiah 13 – The Judgment of Babylon – The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw. On a bare hill raise a signal; cry aloud to them; wave the hand for them to enter the gates of the nobles. I myself have commanded my consecrated ones, and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger, my proudly exulting ones.
Scripture of the Week
Build a strong foundation for how a follower of Christ should think and respond based on the Word of God. Read over the following verse at least once a day for the next week:
Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Sermon Text
Matthew 12:1-8 – At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”
Key Point: Being near our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, the Pharisees did not appreciate it; seeing the works of Jesus, they did not see; hearing the words of Jesus, they did not hear. Come near to Jesus, hear his words, and follow him.
Prayer Focus
“It is God’s will, through his wonderful grace, that the prayers of his saints should be one great and principal means of carrying on the designs of Christ’s kingdom in the world. When God has something very great to accomplish for his church, ‘tis his will that there should precede it the extraordinary prayers of his people.”
Jonathan Edwards

Operation Christmas Child
Samaritan’s Purse encourages OCC shoebox donors to include a personal note in each shoebox gift to encourage the recipient child in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
This is an all-church project – even if you’re unable to help pack the boxes, we welcome all notes – we need over 200.
You may enclose a thoughtful note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back. You may use your name, c/o the church address if you would like.
Blank cards are available in the foyer – if you use an envelope, please do not seal it, as everything must be checked at the processing center. Thank you!
